Sharp snaps up Rexam's Deeside packaging operations

These are exciting times for Sharp Interpack. In the face of the recession the company continues to drive its strategy of investment and growth.

Sharp Interpack (Sharpak) has now acquired assets and the order book from Rexam plc for its Deeside thermoforming business, which will be incorporated into the Group's Yate operation near Bristol.

The sum of their parts...

This is a logical step following the 2006 acquisition of the Yate business from Rexam and underlines the company's position as the user and developer of the proprietary RTF forming technology.

The Deeside acquisition has further consolidated the company's position as the leading UK supplier of rigid thermoformed plastic packaging to the retail and food sector in the UK and continental Europe.

Says Andrew Copson, Deputy Managing Director of the Group,

" This acquisition confirms Sharp Interpack as the pre-eminent deployer of the RTF technology to the benefit of our customer base and brings us exposure to new market segments where we can offer our blend of environmentally sound, innovative and cost effective packaging solutions."
